Integrated Approach
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has four thousand years of proven effectiveness in keeping the body's energies and systems in balance before disease develops. In China, TCM and Western Medicine are used in combination to maintain the health of the patient. I encourage my patients to continue appropriate medical advice and treatment from their M.D.'s, while incorporating acupuncture and herbs into their health regimen, thereby reaping the full benefit of these two complementary medical approaches.
My Background
I am a California licensed acupuncturist and herbalist with a unique background and blend of skills in personal fitness training, dance, hypnotherapy, and Chinese martial arts. As a fitness professional, my business "Workout from Within" has served many clients in their homes and at the California Tennis Club from 1986 to the present. In one aspect of my fitness business, "Fitnosis" as I called it, I incorporated hypnotherapy to foster the mind-body connection in supporting weight management, exercise motivation and other healthy life style choices. Twenty years of professional dance training has added to my understanding of the body and the importance of movement in maintaining strength and proper functioning. My experience as a student and teacher of Tai Chi Chuan sparked my original interest in the Chinese philosophy of health thirty years ago.
My approach
My Focus: Sports Injury- Prevention and Pain Relief
Receiving acupuncture on a regular basis (i.e. monthly) helps the body to stay stress-free by dissolving accumulated tension and imbalances. Acupuncture treatments received as soon as possible after an initial injury go a long way toward healing the damaged tissue. Herbal formulas taken internally, which are directed specially to the injured area, work together with the acupuncture to aid in a complete recovery.
Women's Issues: PMS and Menopausal Symptoms Prevention and Pain Relief
Acupuncture is effective for reducing menstrual cramp pain, emotional tension and bloating of premenstrual syndrome, as well as, the extreme symptoms involved in perimenopause such as increased bleeding, mood swings and hot flashes. Herbal formulas support and maintain the balance between treatments.
Nutritional Counseling: Supplementation and Food Choices
Knowing what the body needs and why is essential for health maintenance of our busy lifestyles. Certain herbal formulas and supplements can aid in maintaining a healthy weight and improving digestion.
Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation
One of the newest developments in non-invasive skin care is the use of microcurrent therapy for the face and neck. Modern technology is combined with Chinese medical theory to stimulate Qi and blood flow to the face and increase collagen production, which in turn, smooth wrinkles, reduce puffiness and improve skin tone and texture. It is a safe, gentle and affordable alternative to more invasive procedures.
