Debra Bentley received her Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Meiji College of Oriental Medicine in Berkeley, California. She has a California state license in acupuncture and herbology in addition to being a certified microcurrent facial rejuvenation specialist. She has experience in a wide variety of disciplines and healing modalities including, Tai Chi Chuan, yoga, pilates, fitness training, nutrition and hypnotherapy. Her office is in Pacific Heights.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture, one of the primary modalities in TCM, stimulates the body's natural healing process. Our vital energy flows in a circuit throughout the body in what are called meridians. Meridian flows can get blocked by stress, injury, poor diet, lack of sleep, etc., causing imbalance, which can lead to illness. The insertion of acupuncture needles (pre-packaged, hair-thin and disposable) into specific points on the meridians reestablishes proper energy flow, which creates the balance necessary for the body to heal itself. Acupuncture has been proven to positively affect many systems in the body, in particular, the endocrine, respiratory, neurological and digestive.
Some of the conditions that acupuncture is especially effective at treating include colds and flu, allergies, gynecological conditions, hypertension, arthritis, addiction, general pain relief and recovery from surgery or injury.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal formulas are traditionally combined with acupuncture to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. Herbal medicine takes into account the constitution of the patient as well as the condition being treated. In diagnosing and treating each patient as a unique individual, two people having the same illness could be given two different formulas.
